“Better to love God and die unknown than to love the world and be a hero; better to be content with poverty than to die a slave to wealth; better to have taken some risks and lost than to have done nothing and succeeded at it.” Erwin W. Lutzer

Thanksgiving Day Gratitude
Thanksgiving is nothing if not a glad and reverent lifting of the heart to God in honor and praise for His goodness. Robert Casper Lintner
Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse. Henry Van Dyke
Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude. E.P. Powell
Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world. John Milton
Pride slays thanksgiving, but a humble mind is the soil out of which thanks naturally grow. A proud man is seldom a grateful man, for he never thinks he gets as much as he deserves. Henry Ward Beecher
Rushing Past Thanksgiving
Even though we’re a week and a half away from Thanksgiving, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Richard Roeper
Has Thanksgiving become just a day on the calendar that marks Black Friday Sales?
Or just a day to eat turkey and all the trimmings before watching the game?
Do you find yourself rushing past Thanksgiving as you decorate, make your gift list for shopping, and schedule Christmas activities?
Remember to take time to give thanks. And maybe a few minutes to read the history of Thanksgiving.
Follow @learning2hearTravel Theme: Foliage
Ailsa at Where’s My Backpack? invited me to the photo challenge of Travel Themes. Thank you Ailsa! This week the photo theme is Foliage. I have lots of photos of foliage, but I narrowed it down to three for this submission:
Leaves just beginning to change color disguised the birds chattering in the surrounding trees, as I captured shots of their antebellum style home.
Although this tree doesn’t change colors in the fall, the rays of sun streaming through it near sunset give it a multi-hued effect, from pale green to golden browns.
I like the way the red berries stand out among its changing foliage, and the faded backdrop of yellow leaves glittering in the sunlight.
It’s hard for me to choose one season as a favorite, but my photo archives show that Autumn/Fall is definitely in the top two, with Spring coming in a close second.
Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; Genesis 1:14
And He changes the times and the seasons; Daniel 2:21a
